ASPCA Offers Veterinary Health Insurance for your Pet
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was founded in 1866 as America’s first animal welfare organization. They offer a wide variety of services that assist animals and people alike. The ASPCA has teamed up with the Hartville Group, Inc. and now offers a variety of affordable pet health care plans. As stated by Edwin Sayres, the President and CEO of the ASPCA, “ASPCA Pet Health Insurance was developed with the same devotion to protecting animals that has defined the ASPCA’s 140-year history. Plans from ASPCA Pet Health Insurance are designed to provide you with coverage and customer service worthy of the ASPCA name.”
The pet insurance health care plans offered by the ASPCA are designed to be consistent with their belief system. If you are an animal lover, such as me, this is GREAT news! This means that their plans will support important services such as spaying and neutering but will not cover inhumane treatments such as declawing, tail cropping, or tail docking.
The ASPCA offers several, easy to understand plans…starting with the basic Safety Plan. The Safety Plan includes accident coverage and rates start at a very reasonable $7.50 per month. There are many other plans available such as the Primary Plan, Advantage Plan, Premier Plan and the Sterling Plan. A 10% multi-pet discount is also available! To find out more about each plan and which one is best for your pet, please call 1-866-861-9092. A team of friendly, dedicated, pet insurance specialists are available to answer any questions you may have and will explain all of the plans available in great detail.
Like most veterinary pet insurance companies, the ASPCA pet insurance plans do have exclusions. Some of the treatments that are not covered include:
-Inhumane Treatments (mentioned in paragraph two)
-Some Pre-existing Conditions - This is a tricky subject in both the human and pet health insurance world! Be sure to mention any pre-existing conditions that your pet may have when you speak to one of the ASPCA pet insurance specialists. They are there to help and, trust me, they want to provide your pet with the best available coverage!
-Congenital and Hereditary Disorders
-Boarding
- Breeding and/or Pregnancy
-Special Diets or Food
-Grooming Supplies
If you are considering purchasing health insurance for your pet, I strongly urge you to find out more about the plans that the ASPCA / Hartville Group have to offer. The ASPCA benefits from every plan that is purchased….so not only are you investing in your dog’s health and future, you are helping other animals as well! I’m always a fan of any process, plan or purchase which goes the extra mile and benefits a worthy cause. In securing your own needs for veterinary pet insurance, you’ll be helping an organization which has been there taking care of lovable furballs for almost 150 years.
It’s important to note, though, that the Veterinary Pet Insurance Guide does not endorse any one particular pet health insurance provider. Our goal is to inform you about various programs, policies and companies out there so that you are able to make your own informed decision. While we admire the ASPCA tremendously for their good work, you should thoroughly review and compare many available plans to find the one that best fits your pet’s needs. In the same manner in which we might single out a particular company for a long history in the pet insurance business or for unique services or perks, we are singling out the ASPCA for their efforts to “give back” to animals in need through the sale of pet health insurance. Should you encounter another offering through a company which is, in all relevant ways, equal to those offered by the ASPCA, we hope you’ll let their charitable spirit sway you. But if another company’s plan better suits your needs, go with them instead (just send a tax deductible, charitable contribution to the ASPCA afterwards to balance your karma.)
If your pet is currently enrolled in one of the ASPCA pet health insurance plans, please leave a comment below and share your experience with us! We’d love to hear from you.
